The best character hands down is Jack French. But as for designing characters better, maybe you should add more of a mystery element. Making it harder to get information from the npc's would make future games much more fun and a little more difficult.

Thanks for your comments, Felipe. I will definitely follow your suggestion for Jack French #2.

I don't know yet how to "make it harder to get information from the npc" without risking to lose the interest of the player... but I will find a way.

Well, I actually enjoyed the show girl, because she was raw and real, and had a kind of valley girl way of expressing herself.  Wink

Jack has that sweet element of endearment.  I love that about his character in the first two episodes.  He kind of lost that in the third.  However, in the first two, it was easy to differentiate him as a separate entity from yourself, even though you were playing the game.  I like that feeling better than making myself become the Jack French.  He has his own personality so he should show it more, regardless of who's playing him.  He has very amusing comments about things and his accent is just adorable. 

I also voted for the show girl for...I really don't know why.  I liked her attitude as a showgirl and that's how I roll.
